He is the Streets
While most newcomers attempt to pull off their “one big hit” by matching it with a dance move, Novakane represents for the true hip-hop fans who still respect raw expression without the games and gimmicks. Ferocious as a Chicago wind, Novakane’s approach is numbing to the senses. And he intends to keep it that way.

A native of the city’s West side, Novakane started rapping at age 16. Mainly inspired by NWA and Too Short, he would visualize their tales of gangsta life while witnessing it first-hand for himself every day. After graduating from high school, he decided to take music seriously and moved to Memphis where his godmother opened a recording studio. Groomed by the fast pace environment of Chi-Town’s most notorious streets, Novakane would be automatically equipped for survival in the music industry. But the streets wouldn’t let up. In 2001, Novakane was sent to prison for a six year sentence.

While incarcerated, he continued to write and sharpen his skills by rhyming without beats. After his release in 2006, Novakane regained focus – determined to dish out an official dose of his lyrical venom to the world.

“I do it for my goons, they want that gangsta music.”

His new single, “Do the Glock,” is definitely a club banger; it’s not another dance song but you can rock to it. Novakane puts a grimey twist on the finger-snapping, radio-anthem rhetoric and injects us with hardcore hooks and malicious metaphors instead. Produced by T-Mac, “Do the Glock” is a prescription for the people in the club who don’t dance. Not to be taken lightly, Novakane’s music is only for serious conditions. With just one shot, his brash delivery and aggressive flow puts the nuisance of playtime rappers to sleep.

Novakane’s debut album, titled “Lethal Injection,” is slated for a winter 2008 release. But in the meantime, his spring 2008 mixtape “Overdose” will be enough to hold fans over until he issues the next fix. With a solid code of street ethics and undeniable talent, Novakane is the truth.

He is the Streets.
